The OASIS-C changes implemented on January 1, 2010 represent the most comprehensive revision to OASIS assessment since its original release. Organizations will need a variety of educational and operational resources to assist in the transition from utilizing the OASIS B1 to OASIS-C assessment.

OASIS-C Assessment and Coding of Wounds

A series of three tests for Home Health clinicians provides an overview of standards related to documentation of wounds on the OASIS comprehensive assessment as well as guidelines for accurately coding the most common types of wounds managed in home care. This course will demonstrate how to use the WOCN Society Guidance on OASIS Skin and Wound Status M0 Items to accurately document skin lesions on the OASIS Comprehensive Assessment, and how to select and properly sequence the most accurate ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes for patients with the most common types of wounds managed in home care.

OASIS-C: Introducing the Changes

OASIS includes a data set of assessment items that must be collected by qualified clinicians at specific time points while providing home care services to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. This course is designed to introduce the changes from version B1 to Version C of the OASIS assessment.

OASIS Competency Tests

A series of three tests for home health clinicians on the basics of OASIS, also provides new home care clinicians with a framework for clinical practice, allowing them to develop competency in the comprehensive assessment process. With the inception of Medicare’s Prospective Payment System (PPS), it is imperative that clinicians understand the importance of conducting an accurate, comprehensive assessment and how this impacts the patient’s plan of care, clinical outcomes and reimbursement.

OASIS-C Room-by-Room

This course provides details for completing an accurate comprehensive OASIS assessment by using a scenario-based review of key elements that impact patient outcomes, case mix and adverse events. By using each room in the patient’s home as a scenario, clinicians will learn the importance of using interview, observation and demonstration when completing the OASIS assessment.

OASIS-C: The Basics

A basic course that explains the purpose of the OASIS and how to complete the assessment successfully. This course is designed for new home health clinicians who are learning how to complete an OASIS, or for those who may need a refresher.

OASIS-C: Beyond the Basics

This program provides advanced concepts in the completion of the OASIS comprehensive assessment. The focus of this course is key data elements that impact payment, outcomes and adverse events. Clinicians are encouraged to take the OASIS-C Basics computer-based training course as a pre-requisite to this program.
